Have you met Ro Co? Based in London Rose and Caro produce by hand a range of indoor garden items to brighten up your interiors. From pots to plant hanging himmeli and terrarium kits with a lovely range of air plants to dwell within them. And more besides. Their website is a vision of calm and serene. Which brings me to this kit…
When Caro contacted me and offered to send me a kit to put together I jumped at the chance. Curiosity being part of my nature and if creativity is involved even better.
The kit she sent is a Triangle Geometric Copper Himmeli Kit. It came beautifully packaged in a sturdy cardboard tube. Inside are enough lengths of copper tubing and fine copper wire to make two separate himmeli, or one mobile of two diamonds joined together. I chose to make the separate himmeli.
If, like me, you hadn’t heard of himmeli until the last couple of years, I can tell you (from a little internet searching) they are geometric mobiles originally used as Christmas ornaments in Finland… Simple to put together the diamonds are formed by threading copper wire through tubes and tying when instructed, a small engineering task, the end result is charming as they move and catch the light.
The instructions included the kit are easy to follow and the assembly entirely satisfying. The plants simply sit in the bottom of the diamonds.
This would make a great gift for Christmas, easy to assemble, small and lightweight if postage is something you need to consider (I say this as a lot of our family members live a long way away and we won’t see all of them over the festive season). The plants are so easy to care for and bring a little life to a room.
